One record, written three ways.
The way we record who owns what keeps changing. EX is built on the third.
I
Ownership was printed on paper. To transfer it, the certificate was endorsed, handed over and re-registered.

II
Paper gave way to ledgers. Brokers and registrars keep the record, and investors see it in an account.

III
Assets are recorded on-chain as tokens. You sign in with a wallet, price everything in USDC, and keep them next to your crypto.

I / Paper certificates
A document you could hold.
A printed certificate identifies the holder and their shares. The company’s register records the owner; the paper provides a physical record of that holding.
How a transfer works
The holder signs the required documents, delivers the certificate and has the ownership record updated.
What you keep
A physical certificate that must be stored and safeguarded.

New holderRecorded by name
The certificate and the ownership register work together.
Shares can be recorded electronically without a paper certificate. With a broker, your position appears in the broker’s records. Direct registration instead records your name on the issuer’s books.
How a transfer works
The institutions involved update their records, rather than exchange a paper certificate.
What you keep
An account statement or electronic record of your holding.

Book entry describes the record format. How it is registered still matters.
Tokenization represents an asset or a claim using a blockchain-based token. Its issuer, legal structure and product terms determine what the holder owns and which rights come with it.
How an on-chain transfer works
An authorized transaction updates the token record, subject to the token’s rules.
What to check
Backing, custody, transfer restrictions, redemption and shareholder rights. A token does not automatically give the same rights as a directly held share.

On-chain token transfers and trades recorded inside a platform are different processes.
A new way of writing it down doesn’t guarantee the same rights. Tokenized products may differ from directly held shares in rights, protections and redemption, so read the product terms first.
Get started in three steps
Connect with MetaMaskOpen EX, choose MetaMask and approve the sign-in message in your wallet.
Secure your accountBind an email, set a withdrawal password, and switch on the whitelist if you want it.
Deposit USDCChoose a network, send USDC, then head to the markets you follow.
A multi-asset platform priced in USDC. Markets, trading and account management for tokenized US stocks, ETFs, commodity-linked assets and crypto all live in one app. What’s available at any time is shown in the app.
How does MetaMask work with EX?
MetaMask is your wallet for connecting and approving a sign-in message. EX provides the trading interface and your platform account. Open the app and select MetaMask to get started. Wallet connection and trading are separate steps.
Why USDC?
USDC is the unit for pricing and settlement, so assets from different markets sit in one balance and can be compared and traded side by side.
Is a tokenized stock the same as owning the share?
No. Tokenized products may carry different rights, protections and redemption terms than shares held in a brokerage account. Read the product terms before you take part.
Are the commodities physical?
No. GOLD uses a spot gold reference price; USOIL and NGAS use the USO and UNG ETFs as price references. You don’t hold physical oil or gas.
Which networks can I deposit and withdraw on?
The deposit and withdrawal pages currently offer TRC20, ERC20 and SOL. Always double-check the network and address on the page before you send.
What do I share when I connect a wallet?
Your selected public wallet address, and a signature when you approve the sign-in message. We’ll never ask for your seed phrase or private keys. Always check the site address and what the wallet prompt is asking for.
Before you start
Tokenized stocks are on-chain representations and may not carry the same rights, protections or redemption mechanics as the listed shares.
Liquidity can thin out outside regular US market hours.
Order-book depth and spreads can drift from the underlying market, and reference prices can lag when markets move fast.
Availability, eligibility and disclosures vary by where you live.
